current arrangements. The Bus company
representatives supported the RTA’s comments and the Police representative
noted that allowing taxis to use the bus lane would increase delays to general
traffic.

to Traffic Engineering Advisory Group:
1. That the proposed closure of Market
Street, Marist Place and Marsden Street (between Phillip Street and Market
Street) for New Years Eve and Market Street for NAIDOC Burramatta Family Fun Day
be classified as a Class 2 Event (according to the Guidelines to Traffic and
Transport Management for Special Events).
2. That the closure of Market Street (from 7am to 11pm), and Marist Place and
Marsden Street between Phillip and Market Streets, Parramatta (from 9pm to
9:30pm) to vehicular traffic on Thursday 31 December 2009 be approved in
principle.
3. Further, that the closure of Market Street, Parramatta to vehicular traffic from 9am to 6pm on Sunday 4 July 2010 be
approved in principle and the applicant be advised to provide a complete
Special Event Transport Management Plan for approval by the RTA and Council.
Recommendation

1. That the proposed closure of Market
Street, Marist Place and Marsden Street (between Phillip Street and Market

2. That concurrence be given to the closure

and the applicant be advised to provide a complete Special Event Transport
Management Plan for concurrence by the RTA and Council.
3. Further, that concurrence be given to the
closure of Market Street,
Parramatta to vehicular traffic from 9am to 6pm on Sunday 4 July 2010 and
the applicant be advised to provide a complete Special Event Transport
Management Plan for concurrence by the RTA and Council.

to Traffic Engineering Advisory Group:
1. That
the proposed closure of Church Street between Campbell Street and Fitzwilliam
Street, Parramatta for Lunar New Year be classified as a Class 2 Event
(according to RTA’s Guidelines to Traffic and Transport Management for Special
Events).
2. That
the closure of Church Street between Campbell Street and Fitzwilliam Street,
Parramatta to vehicular traffic from 11am to midnight on Friday 19 February 2010 be
approved in principle and the applicant be advised to provide a completed Special Event Transport
Management Plan for final approval by the RTA and Council.
3. Further,
that a temporary 18m long ‘No
Parking – Coaches Excepted’ restriction be installed within the ‘1/2 Ticket
8am-6pm Mon-Fri 8am-4pm Sat; 4P Ticket 6pm-10pm Mon-Fri 4pm-10pm Sat’
restriction on the south side of

That the closure of
Church Street between Campbell Street and Fitzwilliam
Street, Parramatta for Lunar New Year be deferred to the next TEAG meeting for further information
regarding the affect on bus services, deliveries for businesses, taxi set downs
and the road network capacity.

Riverbeats be classified as a Class 2 Event (according to Guidelines to
Traffic and Transport Management for Special Events).
2. Further, that the closure of Church Street
between Phillip Street and Market Street, Parramatta to vehicular traffic from 6am to midnight on Saturday
31 October 2009 be
approved in principle and the applicant be advised to provide a completed Special Event Transport
Management Plan for final approval by the RTA and Council.

1. That
the proposed partial closure of Macquarie Street, Parramatta (between Pitt Street
and Signalised Pedestrian Crossing) for Australia Day Event from 8:30pm to 9:45pm on Tuesday
26 January 2010 be
classified as a Class 2 Event (according to Guidelines to
Traffic and Transport Management for Special Events).
2. That a temporary bus zone, designated event vehicle area and taxi
zone be installed in the time restricted ticket parking area on both sides of
Pitt Street between Macquarie Street and Park Parade, Parramatta.
3. That a designated event vehicle parking area and pickup/set down
area be installed in Park Avenue and Queens Road, Westmead.
4. That
in principle approval be given for intermittent closures of Macquarie Street at
the pedestrian signals at Parramatta RSL for periods up to 3 minutes between
9.15pm and 9.45pm on Tuesday 26 January 2010 and
5. Further,
that the applicant be advised to provide a completed Special Event Transport
Management Plan for final approval by the RTA and Council.

That a report be brought
back to the next TEAG meeting addressing issues raised by traffic committee
members in relation to the road closure for the Australia Day event.

to Traffic Engineering Advisory Group:
1. That the racing
events and concert events at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse be classified as Class
2 Events (in accordance with the Guidelines to Traffic and Transport Management
for Special Events) and approved in principle.
2. Further, that
the Special Event Transport Management Plans be forwarded to Council and the
RTA for assessment.

Council informed the Committee that the TMP does not address the security of the
taxi zone in
Maria Swallow of the RTA
suggested that the Special Event Transport Management Plan be reviewed by the
RTA and that any approval be for a set period of time.
Recommendation from the Traffic
Engineering Advisory Group:
1. That the racing
events and concert events at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse be classified as Class
2 Events (in accordance with the Guidelines to Traffic and Transport Management
for Special Events) and concurrence be given in principle.
2. That
the Special Event Transport Management Plans be forwarded to Council and the
RTA for assessment.
3. That
Council consider the security issues raised by the NSW Taxi Council as part of
the DA process.
