In 1832 a blue metal quarry was opened by the Surveyor General T. L. Mitchell. Archaeological potential to contribute to an understanding of quarry working.

The Heritage Advisory Committee supports inclusion on the State Heritage Register

 

Councils Open Space and Natural Resources Unit supports listing only of Dundas Diatreme on the register, subject to exemptions for repairs/maintenance and tree planting.

 

The heritage consultant comments that the site is of heritage interest and meets three relevant listing criteria (A, B and E) on State level. Albeit the planning outcome is deemed achieved, it is considered that listing would protect the site in perpetuity.

 

The initial comment of the State Heritage Register Committee of the Heritage Council is that the item is of local significance only.

 

Nominate the Dundas Diatreme for inclusion on State Heritage Register subject to exemptions for repairs/maintenance and tree planting.

15 -- 17 Honor Street, Ermington

1820.  Few of the houses erected along the river by the original grantees now remain and this is both a good example of a Georgian cottage and an important remnant from the early years of European settlement in the Study Area.

The initial comment of the State Heritage Register Committee of the Heritage Council

96 Pennant Hills Road, North Parramatta (site part of Burnside homes), Oatlands

The site is part of Burnside Homes. It is of State significance in its own right, but also closely associated with other elements of the Burnside homes complex.

The Heritage Advisory Committee supports inclusion on the State Heritage Register

 

 

The heritage consultant comments that the site is a heritage interest and meets relevant listing criteria (A to G)) on State level. It is part of the wider complex known as Burnside homes, comprising approximately 45 acres (18.2 ha) and containing a large number of properties. The building is considered worthy of State Heritage Register listing both in its own right and as part of a wider group.

 

The initial comment of the State Heritage Register Committee of the Heritage Council is that this item is potentially of State significance. This item, together with 61 Pennant Hills Road, should be considered as a group with additional items from Baulkham Hills Shire Council.

Nominate the property for inclusion on State Heritage Register.

12 Dellwood Street (Dellwood Shopping Centre), South Granville

First planned shopping centre built by Housing Commission of NSW

Lake Parramatta Reserve -- Dam, North Parramatta

1859.  Example of a rare innovative technique -- first use of proper dam wall in the colony.  A strong association with notable local citizen -- James Pye

Council resolved on 26 September 2011 to support the Heritage Council's proposal to list Parramatta Dam Wall on the NSW State Heritage Register.

2 -- 24 and 7 -- 29 Montgomery Avenue (Houses built for Housing Commission), South Granville

This group of cottages was the first group development constructed by the newly formed Housing Commission in 1944

The heritage consultant comments that the Montgomery Avenue area is of heritage interest and meets relevant listing criteria (A, C, E, F and G) on State level.

 

Historical research undertaken confirms that the Montgomery Avenue/Blaxcell Street/road/Oakleigh Avenue group was the first Housing Commission group development in NSW.

 

The initial comment of the State Heritage Register Committee of the Heritage Council is that this item is potentially of State significance.

1922.  Two-storey 20th-century classical revival house, built as part of the Burnside Homes Orphanage Group

Silverwater Bridge, Silverwater Road, Ermington

1962.  Example of an innovative bridge building technique -- the first of this form of construction in the world

The heritage consultant comments that Silverwater Bridge meets listing criteria (A

 and C) on state level and is deemed worthy of State Heritage Register listing as an example of innovative bridge building technique and the world's first construction of this form.

 

 

The initial comment of the State Heritage Register Committee of the Heritage Council is that this item is possibly of local significance only, but has requested that this item be referred to the RTA for comment.

Nominate Silverwater Bridge for inclusion on the State Heritage Register.

47 Hassall Street (Hambledon Cottage), Parramatta

Hambledon Cottage is a rare and intact example of an early cottage. The garden retains much of the layouts and species associated with the early colonial period of use. It also has a strong association with the Macarthur family. Site possesses archaeological potential to contribute to an understanding of early development in Parramatta.

The Heritage Advisory Committee supports inclusion on the State Heritage Register

 

The heritage consultant comments that Hambledon Cottage meets the relevant listing criteria (A – C and E – G) on State level. Hambledon cottage is rare as an example of surviving Macarthur family residences. It is both rare and representative of the early NSW cottages and of the work of the early NSW architect and builder, Henry Kitchen.

41 – 59 George Street, Parramatta

Demonstrates the commercial role of Parramatta in the nineteenth century.

 

Built before 1844, possibly as a house or an inn. - - This is possibly the oldest commercial building in Parramatta and Sydney.

The Heritage Advisory Committee supports inclusion on the State Heritage Register

 

The heritage consultant comments that the property, including remnant buildings and the site, meets listing criteria (a, C, E and F) on State level. In addition, the site has high archaeological potential and may contain relics of State level of significance relating to the circa 1790 convict huts recorded in a 1792 map.

 

The initial comment of the State Heritage Register Committee of the Heritage Council is that the item is potentially of State significance, but the Heritage Branch has been requested to confirm potential archaeological significance.
