Acting Manager –
Development and Traffic Services advised the Committee that Council has
received funding for construction of the following facilities in 2012/2013:
1. Raise existing pedestrian crossing in William
Street at The Avenue, Granville
2. Raise existing pedestrian crossing in The Avenue
at William Street, Granville
3. Install a raised pedestrian crossing in
Redfern Street at The Trongate, Granville
4. Pedestrian Crossing in Buckleys Street outside
Winston Hill Public School.
5. Roundabout at the intersection of Excelsior
Street and Louis Street, Granville
6. Raise existing pedestrian crossing in Louis
Street at The Avenue, Granville
He also indicated
that Council may receive funding from RMS to replace the painted island in

advertise a trial of a car park style speed humps on each approach to the
pedestrian crossing in
Comments
The Police
representative advised that many near misses have been observed. Pedestrians
often do not check whether motorists have stopped to let them cross. It is busy
in terms of the volume of pedestrians and cars. It is also visually crowded
with many signs and street furniture. Sharp breaking by motorists for
pedestrian may have caused some rear end accidents. The Police representative
also noted that this is a low speed environment.
The representative
for RMS raised concerns in relation to installation of a car park style speed
hump in a road environment. It was noted by the Committee that this style of
car park are in
The RMS
representative advised that other speed hump profiles are available that may be
more suitable.
It was
considered that the matter be deferred
to provide the Committee with an opportunity to inspect the car park style
speed humps in Betty Cuthbert Avenue, Ermington.
Recommendation
from the Traffic Engineering Advisory Group:
1. That Council organise a site meeting with
RMS and Rosehill Police LAC at Betty Cuthbert Avenue, Ermington to view the
recently installed car park style speed humps and a report be brought back to
the next Traffic and Advisory Group meeting recommending appropriate treatment
for South Street, Granville.
2. That Council pursue discussion with RMS
regarding installation of a ‘40km/h High Pedestrian Activity Area’ restriction
in South Street, Granville.

Council’s Service
Manager tabled a report regarding proposed road closures for the filming of
Wolverine. The item is included in the PTC reports within the Council agenda.

2. That the date of filming be determined with
consideration to the dates of The Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer and advice
from the Department of Premier and Cabinet meeting on 9 August 2012
