REPORT OF THE PARRAMATTA TRAFFIC COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 6 APRIL 2009 IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, COUNCIL CHAMBERS BUILDING, CIVIC PLACE, PARRAMATTA AT 1.30 PM

That the report of the Parramatta Traffic Committee meeting held on Monday, 6 April 2009 be taken as read and be confirmed as a true record of the meeting.

 

 

 

Business Arising:            

 

Previous Item A9 - Rawson Street, Epping – Proposed Centrally Planted Trees.  The representative for Greg Smith MP requested that her objections to Council’s approval of the centrally planted trees be noted.  The Committee noted that it is the elected Councillors role to make such decisions and that they hold the responsibility.

A1                   Darcy Road, Westmead – ‘No Stopping’ and ‘No U-Turn’ Restrictions

                        Recommendation to Parramatta Traffic Committee:

 

1.      That the part-time ‘No Stopping’ restrictions in Darcy Road between Bridge Street and Mons Road for eastbound traffic be modified to commence at 2.30pm rather than 3.00pm.

 

2.      That the full time ‘No Stopping’ restrictions in Darcy Road between Bridge Street and Mons Road for westbound traffic west of the school driveway be extended 30m further west.

 

3.      That temporary advisory signs be installed in Darcy Road to advise of the part-time ‘No Stopping’ restrictions.

 

4.      Further, that the painted median in Darcy Road be continued across the entrance to Mayflower Aged Care Village.

 

                        Recommendation from the Parramatta Traffic Committee

That Council approve the proposals for South Street, Granville between Mary Street and Railway parade, including the following works:.

 

1.      A median island between Mary Street and Russell Street.

 

2.      Relocating the pedestrian crossing in South Street near Railway Parade south towards Russell Street as shown on the attached plan.

 

3.      Extending the taxi rank in Russell Street by 2 spaces.

 

4.      Altering 6 of the 1 hour parking spaces on the south side of Railway Parade, west of the disable parking, to 15 minute parking 8am to 6pm Monday – Saturday.

 

5.      Installing ‘No Stopping – Taxi Excepted 1 Minute Maximum’ on the south side of Russell Street west of South Street, Granville.

 

 

 

 

Recommendation from the Parramatta Traffic Committee

1.      That the existing ‘One-Way’ restriction be removed from Darcy Street, Parramatta outside the Sydney Water Headquarter at 40-52 Darcy Street, Parramatta.

2.      That the existing ‘No Parking’ and ‘P 5 Minute’ parking restriction on the south side of Darcy Street, Parramatta be replaced with a ‘No Stopping’ restriction.

3.      That two (2) ‘P 5 Minute’ parking spaces be installed within the ‘No Stopping’ restriction on the north side of Darcy Street, Parramatta.

4.      Further, that pavement arrows, painted islands and parking bays be installed in Darcy Street, Parramatta.

 

Recommendation from the Parramatta Traffic Committee

1.      That a speed hump be installed at 18 Greens Avenue, Oatlands.

 

2.      Further, that the rumble bars in Bells Road at Greens Avenue be reinstated to stop corner cutting.
