REPORT OF THE TRAFFIC ENGINEERING ADVISORY GROUP MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 4 JUNE 2009 IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, COUNCIL CHAMBERS BUILDING, CIVIC PLACE, PARRAMATTA AT 1.30 PM

                        Recommendation to Traffic Engineering Advisory Group:

 

1.         That ‘Do Not Queue Across Driveway’ line marking not be installed in North Rocks Road at St Monica’s School driveway.

 

2.         Further, that the School Principal be advised of the suggested routes to and from the School as detailed in the report.

1.         That Cross Street between Guildford Road and Council’s southern boundary not be included in Council’s Road Safety and Amenity List (for a street to be included in this list there needs to be support from at least 50% of residents for traffic calming in the street).

 

2.         Further, that the head petitioner be advised that a petition or letters from 50% of the residents of Cross Street supporting the traffic calming is required for the street to be included in the Road Safety Amenity List and considered for funding.

                        Recommendation to Traffic Engineering Advisory Group:

 

1.           That Council monitor the operation of the temple and review the request for a Resident Parking Scheme 6 months after the completion of works at the temple.

2.           Further, that objectors to the development application (DA/688/2008) be advised of the decision and be provided with a copy of this report.

1.           That traffic calming in Claremont Street between Montrose Avenue and Woodville Road be supported.

 

2.           Further, that a further report be provided indicating the prioritisation of traffic calming proposals, including Claremont Street.

                        Recommendation to Traffic Engineering Advisory Group:

 

1.           That Council raises no objection to use cycleway and/or shared pathway within the Parramatta LGA for the 2009 City of Sydney Spring Cycle.

 

2.           Further, that the Organiser obtains approval from Council's Service Manager, Open Space and Natural Resources, if a public reserve is used as a rest point for participants.

 

                        Recommendation from the Traffic Engineering Advisory Group:

 

1.           That Council raises no objection to use cycleway and/or shared pathway within the Parramatta LGA for the 2009 City of Sydney Spring Cycle.

 

2.           That the Organiser obtains approval from Council's Service Manager, Open Space and Natural Resources, if a public reserve is used as a rest point for participants.

 

3.           Further, that the applicant be requested to submit a Special Event Traffic Management Plan in accordance with the RTA’s Guidelines for Class 1 Special Events and refer it to the RTA.

Comments:

 

                        Ms Joan Wilcox, Representative for Greg Smith, MP informed the Committee that the RTA has started construction of the crash barrier in Beecroft Road at Bridge Street, Epping. 

 

                        Recommendation:

                       

                        A report is requested on this matter at the next TEAG meeting.

 

 

0906 B12      Centrally Planted Trees in Rawson Street, Epping

                        Comments:

 

                        Ms Joan Wilcox, Representative for Greg Smith, MP raised concerns regarding the recently installed centrally planted trees in Rawson Street, Epping.  The Committee noted that a collision had recently occurred in the street, however the available information indicated that driver behaviour was a significant factor in the accident.  It was also noted that vandalism of the landscaping had occurred and the tree guards and reflectors will soon be installed.
