Arts Advisory Committee

TERMS OF REFERENCE

 

June 2009

 

These Terms of Reference are to be read in conjunction with Council’s Advisory Committee Core Terms of Reference 2009.

 

1.         Primary Purpose

1.1       To advise Council on the views, needs and interests of the arts communities within the Parramatta LGA as they relate to progressing Parramatta as an arts centre and as they are within the parameters of Council’s authority and responsibilities.  

 

1.2      To support Council’s development of a broader consultation network of artists, art organisations and other stakeholders concerned with progressing and supporting the arts in the Parramatta area.

 

2.         Roles and Responsibilities

2.1       To advise Council on the views, needs and interests of the arts communities within the Parramatta LGA that fall within Council’s authority and responsibilities.

 

2.2       To provide a forum for artists, representatives of art organisations and other stakeholders concerned with the arts, to raise issues, needs and priorities that fall within Council’s authority and responsibilities.

 

2.3       To advise and assist Council on ways to broaden its consultation base with artists, art organisations and other stakeholders.

 

2.4       To work with the range of arts and cultural programs within Parramatta City Council and to actively promote these activities in the wider community.

 

2.5       To advocate within diverse networks and communities for the intrinsic importance and value of the arts in the Parramatta area.

 

3.         Membership Criteria

 

3.2       Members will be drawn from a broad cross section of the cultural community

 

·    artists

·    educators

·    cultural organisations

·    industry representatives

·    cultural groups and associations

·    Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations

 

 

6.         Frequency of Meetings

 

6.1 Meetings shall be held quarterly on the second Tuesday of February, May, August and November between 6:00 -8:00pm.
