The Representative of Roads and
Maritime Services (RMS) requested that swept path diagrams for the right turn
movements and detail dimensions of the concrete island widths be provided. The
Committee suggested that the roundabout be supported and that if the proposed
concrete island are not of adequate width they be replaced with painted
islands.

for a period of 6 months from the date of installation of signs and a report be
brought back to the Parramatta Traffic Committee after the trial period.

write to all residents in the expanded Resident Parking Scheme area in Tennyson
Street, Irving Street and James Ruse Drive Service Road, Parramatta to provide
them a Resident Parking Permit application form and information regarding fees.
The letter to residents is also to advise them of the trial in Tennyson Street
and advise of the opportunity to provide comments at the end of the 6 months.

That a pedestrian crossing be
installed in Pine Street, Rydalmere at St Mary’s School between Park Road and
Myrtle Street.
Comments:
The Representative of the Roads and
Maritime Services (RMS), objected to the comment in the report that the road
rules for children’s crossings are poorly recognised and stated that children’s
crossings are fully supported by the NSW Centre for Road Safety and RMS. Clr
Andrew Bide suggested that Council and RMS should provide road safety education
material to the School.
Recommendation from the
1. That a pedestrian
crossing be installed within the existing children crossing in Pine Street,
Rydalmere at St Mary’s School between Park Road and Myrtle Street. The children
and pedestrian crossings (including width of crossings) are to be provided in
accordance with the current Australian Standards.
2. That Council
investigate all the crossing needs in the precinct including relocation of the
pedestrian crossing in Myrtle Street from the south to north side of Pine
Street in consultation with the School, and a report be brought back to the
Parramatta Traffic Committee addressing the issue.
3. That Council
write to St Mary’s School advising it to apply to Roads and Maritime Services
for a School Crossing Supervisor.
4. That Council write
to Roads and Maritime Services requesting school road safety education material
regarding pedestrian crossings and children’s crossings for Council to
distribute.
5. That Council
write to the Rosehill Police LAC requesting that it include streets near St Mary’s
School in the streets that it patrols during school peak hours.

1. That the traffic islands in Pegler Avenue
and Gordon Avenue at Dellwood Street, South Granville be approved.
2. That Council seek funding for a roundabout
at the intersection of Pegler Avenue and Dellwood Street, South Granville.

The Service Manager - Traffic and
Transport tabled a revised plan that had been agreed to by RMS and Council
staff (see attached).

That the raised pedestrian crossing
in Wigram Street, north of Raymond Street, Harris Park, be relocated to 20m
further north of its current location; the existing raised pedestrian crossing
be converted to a raised threshold; and a fence installed to direct pedestrians
to the new crossing location.
Comments
The Committee discussed sight
distance issues for the proposed location of the pedestrian crossing and
recommended that the tree on the east side of the street near the proposed kerb
ramp be removed. The representative of Roads and Maritime Services requested
that the location of dragon’s teeth markings be shown on the plan and that RMS
be consulted regarding relocation of the markings. The RMS representative also
requested that detail design plans with dimensions be provided to RMS.

Wigram Street, north of Raymond Street, Harris Park, be relocated to 20m

1. That a 6m
long ‘No Stopping Taxis
Excepted 1 Minute Limit’ (with Taxi Pick Up Point at the back of signs)
restriction be installed within the existing ‘No
Stopping’ restriction on the west side of Rawson Street, Epping north of the
entry driveway to Coles supermarket as shown in the attached sketch.
2. That Council continue to seek opportunities
to install ‘No Parking’ and ‘No Stopping Taxis Excepted 1 Minute Limit’
restriction to provide pick up/set down areas.
3. That Council continue to manage on-street
parking to encourage turnover in commercial and retail areas, to provide
appropriate vacancy rates.
