Standing agenda item: Emerging environmental and sustainability topics |
Description |
The Committee note the following matters: 1. National Recycling Week 7 to 17 November 2022 2. REDcycle announcement on 9 November 2022 to temporarily pause its soft plastic collection program as a result if significant operating challenges. Thornleigh Community Recycling Centre (Hornsby Shire Council) are still accepting soft plastics for recycling. 3. The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties (CoP27) 6 to 18 November 2022, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

The Committee divided into three groups to discuss Leadership Opportunities and Best Practice.

Staff will review the EAC identified leadership opportunities and best practice themes/trends and report back by the end of 2022.

Description
|
The Committee discussed the following:
· Electric vehicle (EV) charger locations
EV charging announcements are being made by federal and state government and some private companies (MG, NRMA). EV Charging locations can be found at TfNSW Charging Map (example below) or Enerergi Charging Map. Each pin on the map indicates location of EV charger – green is available and orange is in use.
· Biosecurity fauna alert
The Red-eared slider turtle and corn snake are two biosecurity species that are potentially within the City of Parramatta.
· Mossie Education program – environmental share. Attachment 3 – Councillor Workshop Briefing Presentation. |
