Deputy Chair Election
Lord Mayor, Councillor Davis nominated Julz Strykowski for the position of Deputy Chairperson.
When put to vote, the nomination of Julz Strykowski to the position of Deputy Chairperson was CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

Note: Lord Mayor, Councillor Davis retired from the meeting at 6:06pm.
Deputy Chair Julz Strykowski assumed the role as Chair.

Environmental strategic direction overview |
Description |
Council Officers provided an overview to the environmental strategic direction of Council as circulated in the presentation prior to the meeting.
In relation to future agendas, it was raised and suggested to have a standing item on the agenda titled “Emerging Trends” to allow committee members to contribute relevant environmental and sustainability best practice, government policy or scientific research to advise Council’s strategic direction.

Outcome |
This suggestion was taken on notice and will be considered prior to the next meeting on 10 November 2022.

Note: 1. Melissa Brooks joined the meeting via audio-visual means at 6:03pm. 2. Lord Mayor Davis retuned to the meeting at 6:43pm and resumed as Chair.

General Business |
Description |
The Committee raised concerns about plastic pollution in the creek and the impact this will have on members of the community swimming in the river.
The Committee raised concerns about waste management raised for apartments within Wentworth Point.
The Committee raised concerns climate resilience raised as an item to be included in the Environmental Sustainability Strategy Refresh.

Outcome |
· Council Officers will assist and educate the Committee members on how to raise service requests to report incidents within the Local Government Area (LGA).
· Council Officers will assist the Committee members with waste education information to be included in Wentworth Point community newsletter.
· Council Officers noted climate resilience and committed it will be included in the Environmental Sustainability Strategy Refresh discussion on 10 November meeting.
